Your week at a glance

A rewarding seven-day Cyprus itinerary does not need seven different hotels. For a first visit with a hire car, we recommend staying at Cyprus Villages in Tochni and building your days around the southern coast, Larnaca, Limassol and the inland villages. You can have variety without spending every evening packing.

This is a holiday plan, rather than a race around the whole island. It includes arrival and departure days, one mountain outing and a day with no ambitious sightseeing at all. Switch the order to suit your flight times, the weather and how you feel.

Your seven-day Cyprus itinerary
Day Main plan Keep the day simple
1 Arrive and settle into Tochni Village walk and dinner; no major outing
2 Southern-coast beach day Choose one beach area and stay a while
3 Larnaca waterfront and old town One cultural stop, lunch and a seafront stroll
4 Lefkara and village country Choose a village afternoon or Choirokoitia
5 Limassol or Kourion A city day, or archaeology and the coast
6 Mountain day or a slow day One inland destination, or stay close to home
7 Easy breakfast and departure Leave room for your airport arrangements

Best suited to: couples, friends and families who want a mix of coast, culture and traditional village life. Transport: a car makes this plan much easier. Geographical focus: southern Cyprus; it deliberately leaves out a full island circuit.

Why we recommend Tochni for this itinerary

Where you sleep changes how your week feels. Tochni sits between Larnaca and Limassol, so this itinerary lets you explore in different directions and return to the same familiar village. It is a useful position for this particular mix of coast, cities and countryside, rather than a claim that every corner of Cyprus is equally close.

At Cyprus Villages, the accommodation is part of the village itself: traditional stone-built apartments spread among its lanes. We are a family business established in 1988. After a day out, the appeal is simple: a place to settle in, a village evening and dinner at Tochni Tavern.

For travellers who want to explore by car and enjoy a traditional slow stay, this is our recommended base. If your priority is walking straight onto a sandy beach every morning, compare that preference with a beachfront stay before deciding. Our area guide explains the differences.

Explore the apartments at Cyprus Villages and ask which Tochni apartment suits your group, parking needs and mobility. The houses have different approaches; steps and village slopes are worth discussing before booking.

Days 1–2: arrive gently, then find your beach

Day 1: make the first evening easy

Arrange your airport journey before you fly. If collecting a hire car, confirm the collection instructions and what happens if your flight arrives late. Head to your apartment, unpack properly and take a short village walk if you have the energy.

Keep dinner close to home. Tochni Tavern is a natural introduction to your stay; confirm reservations and current meal arrangements for your dates. You do not need to turn an arrival evening into another excursion.

Day 2: one coast, one unhurried day

Start with the southern coast around Governor’s Beach and the White Rocks area. Choose a place to spend time, rather than trying to sample several beaches before lunch. Read our Cyprus beach guide to compare the coastline with the sandier eastern bays.

Choose the exact swimming spot according to conditions and the facilities you need. A dramatic rocky view and a convenient place for children to swim are different things. Check access, shade and any lifeguard arrangements at the beach itself; rocks can be slippery and the sea can change.

Leave the afternoon open. A long lunch or an early return to your apartment belongs in the itinerary just as much as a landmark.

Days 3–5: coastal cities, crafts and ancient Cyprus

Day 3: Larnaca without a checklist

Make Larnaca your city day: walk the Finikoudes waterfront, explore the old-town streets and choose one cultural visit. The Church of Saint Lazarus can be part of that plan; check access and dress requirements before entering a religious site.

Allow time to park and walk. Stop for lunch, then decide whether you want more sightseeing or a coastal afternoon. The culture and historical-sites guide helps you choose a visit that interests you instead of adding stops for their own sake.

Day 4: Lefkara and the village landscape

Lefkara is known for lace and silverwork. Give its lanes and workshops a leisurely morning, and ask about the work rather than treating the village as a quick photo stop. You could stay for lunch and continue with a quiet village afternoon.

If prehistory interests you more, make Choirokoitia your main cultural visit instead, or combine the two only if the opening times and your pace allow it. Do not squeeze an archaeological visit into the last few minutes before closing. The official Larnaca-region guide is a useful starting point for both.

Day 5: choose Limassol or Kourion as the focus

For cafés, shops and a waterfront walk, spend the day around Limassol’s old town and seafront. For ancient history, make Kourion the main outing: its theatre and archaeological remains deserve more than a hurried stop.

Kourion is west of Limassol, so adding it to a city day makes the route longer. A more relaxed alternative is Kourion followed by a coastal lunch, leaving the city for another visit. Check the official visitor information for opening arrangements and access before you set out.

Days 6–7: a different landscape, then an easy departure

Day 6: a mountain outing, or the day you leave unplanned

If you want an inland contrast, choose one Troodos-area village or a suitable short walk as the centre of your day. Mountain roads and stops need more time than a map’s direct line suggests. Avoid trying to combine a long hike, several villages and a winery visit in one outing.

Pick a walk for your fitness and the conditions, using our Cyprus hiking guide and current official trail information. If wine is your interest, use our winery-planning guide and arrange transport so the driver does not take part in drinking.

Or leave this day free. Repeat your favourite beach, linger over breakfast and spend the evening in Tochni. A week with one unscheduled day often feels more like a holiday than seven days of instructions.

Day 7: leave a proper airport buffer

Use the morning according to your flight time. Account for check-out, fuel stops, car return and your airline’s arrival requirements. This is not the day for a distant attraction. If you have a late flight, a nearby lunch or gentle walk is easier to abandon if your plans change.

How to adapt the week to your season and travel style

Travelling in summer

Put exposed sightseeing earlier in the day and leave the warmest hours flexible. Shorten walks when conditions call for it. Carry water and choose shade and easy access over an overpacked schedule.

Travelling outside the main beach season

Give more space to villages, food and cultural visits. Keep swimming as an option based on conditions, rather than the success test for the whole holiday. Read the month-by-month Cyprus guide when choosing dates.

Travelling with children or someone who needs easier access

Reduce the number of stops and ask about toilets, steps, walking surfaces and shade before committing to a visit. Check the approach to your particular apartment too. One enjoyable outing is more valuable than a day spent recovering from a difficult one.

Wanting Paphos or the far east as well

Replace a day rather than add another destination on top. If the western coast or eastern beaches are the main reason for your holiday, a second base or a different base may make more sense. Tochni is our recommendation for the balanced southern-Cyprus week described here, not a promise of short drives to everywhere.

Questions about spending one week in Cyprus

Is seven days enough in Cyprus?

Yes, for a satisfying first visit to a selection of the island. Choose a few landscapes and leave time to enjoy them. Seven days is not enough to see every region properly and have a slow holiday at the same time.

Can I spend seven days in Cyprus from one base?

Yes. With a car, Tochni works well for the coast, Larnaca, Limassol and village outings in this itinerary. We recommend Cyprus Villages for travellers who prefer a traditional apartment and relaxed evenings to changing hotels.

Do I need a car for this itinerary?

We recommend one. The route is built around independent village, beach and inland outings. Our companion guide explains when a hire car is useful and when a car-free stay works.

Should I book every day in advance?

Book your accommodation and essential transport, and reserve any specific activity or meal you care about. Keep ordinary sightseeing flexible, checking current visitor information before each outing.

Ready to choose your base? Find your traditional apartment in Tochni and build a week that leaves time for the island and for yourself.
