"Come to
Cyprus and discover its traditions in dance and music. "
Cyprus has a rich musical and dance tradition, which
is quite different from the Greek one. The typical instruments which
accompany the dances are the violin and laouto.

Laouto is a lute with four double strings, which is played with a
quill of an eagle or vulture. Many dances are performed face-to-face
and as a suite. Men and women are very nimble with their feet. The
dances are very popular at weddings; one reason is the allusion to
village courtship rituals.
The musical and dance tradition takes a centre stage in the summer
months. Many villages are holding festivals and Cypriot dances are
presented as well as concerts.
